When I last ran Brighton Marathon (2011) the race was only in its second year but already had a great set up and very large field (8000+ finishers). In winning that year I sliced over 30 minutes off the course record to record 2.34.51 a time which saw me qualify for the 2011 World Championships in Daegu.
One good thing about next year’s race is that the race team have managed to take the first hill out of the course so that it will hopefully run even faster. I enjoyed the toughness of the course back in 2011 and found that the hills helped a bit as they chopped and changed the pace around instead of keeping to an even pace like you would at a flat race like London.
