Hi, so I am back from a week away and finding the running bug again was tough. I ran 3miles once while away, 1.5mile down the side of a mountain and then 1.5mile back up with only a couple little walks in between. Felt great for hill training as it was about 40degrees C and it felt like there was no air. I really wanted to go out more than once, but after realising my legs were all chafed from my shorts I decided it wasn’t the best idea and took the rest of the week off.
On my return home I felt like I had left my running mojo somewhere in the hills of Italy and was concerned with the GNR being round the corner, however thanks to some good friends from the harrier club I got the kick start I needed and went for a 12 mile run in 1hr55min last Sunday. I am feeling quite pleased with this time for my first run in just over a week, but I am also a little concerned about meeting my target of 2 hours especially since the next day I felt like a tin man that hadn’t been oiled for a while. Everywhere ached when I moved, despite stretching and cooling down after my run!
So with only three weeks to go, this week I intend to get to my usual club sessions with the harriers and Sunday I will be doing the Tynedale Jelly Tea, a race I haven’t done before, so I am looking forward to seeing how it goes and I’m going to use it as a good training session for the GNR as I am aiming to stick to between 8.30-9min miles all the way round.
Good Luck to anyone else who is taking part in the Jelly Tea and I’ll speak to you all again soon.
Claire :)
