I was nervous to start running outside, my face goes bright red and I thought everyone would laugh at me driving past. I faced my fears and started by jogging a loop a round my estate which I walked more than ran but after a few weeks it got easier and I felt as if I was running more than walking, I kitted myself out with proper trainers, a running app and some tights and felt much more confident when I headed out the door.
I had completed the Race for Life and the Great North 10km and I started to believe that I could do it; I could run 13.1miles and complete one of the biggest races in the world! I must admit whilst doing the Great North Run I swore to myself I would never run again, the last 3 miles were tough! I had picked up an injury in the weeks leading up to the race and the closer I got to the finish line the more it hurt but I did it and nothing beats the feeling of crossing a finish line and within a few days I had signed up to the Edinburgh Half Marathon 2012 (so much for not running again). | |
