I spent week six of GNR training enjoying a bit of a hiatus from running, and instead enjoyed the relaxing surroundings of Center Parcs in Whinfell Forest, as well as the copious amount of activities on offer!
My training started off as usual on Tuesday, when I partook in some interval training, although just completing 3 miles instead of 5 as I was playing badminton early that morning.

My next run was on Thursday when I attempted a steady 5 miles, however a pain on the inside of my left calve was too much for me to keep running, so I finished on about 4 miles which included a mixture of walking, jogging and wincing, although it was nice to take in my surroundings rather than concentrating on my watch.
Although there wasn’t as much running in week 6, I did enjoy all the cycling, walking and general fresh air, so overall I feel a lot of healthier and happier! I also had fun playing badminton and am glad to have found another sport I can mix in with my running.
I also did a bit of Aqua Zumba, which I didn’t like as much as normal Zumba, and took part in a yoga class. I’d previously done some yoga and pilates classes, but this was the first time I could actually feel the effects the following day on my arms and stomach, so would really like to keep going to yoga to build up strength.
My last run was 4 and half miles on Sunday, which I wasn’t very happy with, but feel like it’s all I could have done due to my lack of running during the week.
I feel invigorated after my week away from my training plan and am looking forward to getting stuck back into running and seeing if I can achieve my sub 2hr GNR aim!
Happy running!
