Barbara lives in Cramlington in Northumberland and her 5 mile run takes her from the Manor Walks shopping centre, around Nelson Industrial Estate then back up towards home.
I live in Cramlington, Northumberland near the Manor Walks shops so normally walk to Station Road as the traffic can get bad and start there.
Head towards the train station but at the roundabout take a right and go down that road for a bit and then left into Nelson Village. You are away from the traffic now and there are lots of houses but it's ok. Through the estate to the bottom you come out by the industrial estates on South Nelson Road.
You then go around the roundabout and down Nelson Road, left at the bottom and along Nelson Way (I think the person who made these roads may have been called Nelson!).

Now this is the only bad bit of the run and so you need to be careful. At the end of Nelson way you turn left and up the main road, there isn't a path and you have to hug the side of the road for about 400 metres (a lap of a running track) but sometimes it can be scary when the motorists are speeding by!
Just after you go under the railway bridge you can get onto the pavement and carry on up to the top and cross over the road by the garden centre, left and then a right up to escape the noise of the traffic into the paths by Beacon Lane. This is a cycle path and takes you all the way back to Dudley Lane which is back near where I live.
I normally walk the last quarter of a mile to relax my legs. The run is just under 5 miles.
