The Newcastle Parkrun this week saw a whopping 342 finishers which is close to the record of 367. There were 67 new registrations which for an event which has been running for years now and is nothing particularly new, is quite some feat. We're sure last weekend's Great North Run action spurred quite a few of those new registrants into action, but isn't that the point?
What a morning for a run in the park. Conditions were perfect out on the Town Moor for some good running but would the winner break the magic 17min barrier?

After the Newcastle Parkrun was called off we took a trip to the third running of the Whitley Bay Parkrun. Brian Hetherington set new record figures after a hard fought battle at the third Whitley Bay Parkrun. The Wallsend Harrier was quickly to the fore after a manic start and was tracked by Tynedale Harriers' Alan Copeland before Hetherington's strength began to show as he came home 26 seconds clear. |
