Absolutely brilliant report Mark and a fantastic performance in the conditions. I was trying to track your run in the website with intermittent success, I could still see you were on for a great time. I was really interested in your approach to your training programme, which appears to have paid off. Well done mate.

Cheers Dave, and an equally brilliant report from yourself on your London marathon. I was very interested in your comment about emerging from the Docklands. On the two occasions i've ran London my wife has been stood near Tower Bridge and said exactly the same thing - looked great going into the Docklands, but like death coming out of it! Best of luck for next year mate, sure you'll go sub 3 hours!!

Mark, great report. What I really love is the philosophical attitude, the belief in the training and the determination for your Next Marathon. I have heard shocking weather reports from Manchester so congratulations on a fantastic effort. Well done.

Hi mark. Well done. Would you do Manchester again? Was the course a potential pb course in decent weather?

Hi Andy. Yes i'd do Manchester again, it was a very well organised race and had the atmosphere of a big marathon (8000 entries), but without all the stress and hassle of something like London. The course is definetely p.b potential because, as I said in my report, there is only one real hill which comes in the middle of the race and only lasts for about half a mile. The rest is pan flat. My only criticism of the course is that in the last few hundred metres, rather than closing a road, they took us down through an underpass which involved running down steps on one side and back up steps on the other side - not what you want after 26 miles of running!
