Both scored narrow but exciting victories around the fast Silksworth course although a strong wind meant that times were down on last year.
Third place went to Durham City's 20 year old Michael Grimes while the first vet past the post was another Morpeth Harrier, Neil Wilkinson in 15.38 for 7th place overall.
The ladies race was just as competitive as the men's as only 31 seconds separated the first 5 finishers. Wallsend's British Armed Forces Cross Country Champion Danielle Hoidgkinson, took an early lead and despite being run down by new Jarrow & Hebburn recruit Angela Hibbs, she held onto victory in a time of 17.28. Hibbs finished in 17.44, just 10 seconds ahead of new clubmate Alex Snook.
A great event with a high standard in both the men's and ladies events. A huge thanks to Sunderland Harriers for hosting such a well organised race.
